When most small business owners think of intellectual property (IP), they visualize costly attorney fees for something that only benefits big corporations. In reality, the most valuable asset a small business owner or entrepreneur owns are their ideas and their brand. The internet has intensified competition in the market and made many small businesses susceptible to infringement and fraud. Presented by a local IP attorney, this one-hour seminar will focus on IP concerns and how small business owners can utilize trademarks, trade dress, and copyrights to protect their assets and avoid infringements. The discussion will include real world examples and an opportunity to ask questions.
Attorney Jack Gross provides legal counsel on copyright, trademark, and licensing matters for businesses of all sizes. He also provides advice on general business matters including business formation, purchase, sale, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial real estate. Jack frequently assists business owners in designing their business succession plans, including considerations for business assets, IP, real estate, and tax goals.

Are you a small business that:
Does work directly with the Department of Defense?Does work with a large prime contractor? Is looking to develop a cybersecurity plan? One of the reasons many companies don't have a cybersecurity strategy is because they don't know where to start. With all of the recommendations out there, what gets overlooked is the need for a cybersecurity plan. A cybersecurity plan can help you understand your most important security needs and next steps, avoiding costly or unnecessary measures.
This seminar is designed around cybersecurity guidelines from the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST). These guidelines are a requirement for many DoD prime and subcontractors, and are a great starting point for other companies.
Note: This will also included a demonstration of the Dept. of Homeland Security's CSET tool, which results in a printable cybersecurity plan.
